Harehills Primary School (Leeds) has won the West area finals of the Drax Cup 2008, the country’s biggest under-9s cricket competition. It means they go through to the finals which will be staged at Headingley Carnegie Stadium on Thursday 26 June.
They beat Morley Victoria (Leeds) and Bradford Moor (Bradford) in the festival-style tournament held at Farsley Cricket Club, Leeds today ( Monday 23 June).
A total of 270 schools from across Yorkshire are taking part in The Drax Cup 2008 which is sponsored by Drax Power Limited and organised by The Yorkshire County Cricket Club in conjunction with The Yorkshire Cricket Board and The Yorkshire Schools’ Cricket Association.
