Career development

Competency management and career progression through training and development are an integral part of the Drax culture, supported at the highest level of the organisation as we continually seek to improve our skills profile

Primary consideration is given to safety competence where robust refresher systems, continual updating and enhancement of competence are a priority.

Competence levels are maintained through a competency framework approach encompassing the whole business. Development of occupational skills can be accessed by an appraisal system which is usually undertaken on an annual basis, but with regular reviews as required.

The business operates an apprentice scheme aimed at replenishing our craft skills as required; traditionally the skills undertaken are electrical, electrical control / instrumentation and mechanical engineering.

Superior on-site learning facilities enable the internal training team to deliver bespoke training solutions to a high standard ensuring the highest levels of competence are achieved. Drax also works with training partners from a range of backgrounds with a view to continual improvement, welcoming the opportunity to utilise cutting edge learning and technology as required.
